The Harvest Joy Planner
The Harvest Joy Planner aims to help users prepare for more joy in their daily life. As one plans educational, business, and family tasks for successful outcomes, this planner aims to help develop habits that cultivate daily joy!
Why I Developed this Planner
I love planners! I have used them since high school. I have vivid memories of the successes I have gained over the decades, using planners to help me accomplish many goals. The habit of documenting and prioritizing the tasks in my life has always helped me move forward, especially during challenging times.
The summer of 2018 was a pivotal season for me. Earlier in the year, just four months into mourning my mother’s unexpected passing, I received the news that my only brother had collapsed and died in his home. These were the first deaths in my immediate family, and they blindsided my sisters and me. I had never experienced this degree of life’s challenges. Alongside these challenges was a ten-year journey of supporting my dad as his brain experienced the devastation of Alzheimer’s. It should not have been a season where joy could be cultivated, let alone harvested.
The suicides of Kate Spade and Anthony Bourdain that summer brought all kinds of questions to my mind. They had both worked hard to build successful empires and appeared to have it all together. While acknowledging mental health challenges are very common, today’s demanding, fast-paced society requires that we protect our personal space just as fiercely as we chase our dreams of success.
Later that year, I decided to combine my love of using planners with my decades of mindful practices that allow me to cultivate and experience joy daily alongside life’s toughest challenges. I share what I practice hoping that others may benefit from being intentional about producing joy in their life as they journey toward success.
How it Works
Each month a user will identify actions to complete helping to GROW a sustainable garden of joy. The user will complete each guiding statement at the beginning of the month.
These are GROW affirmations for each month. The goal is to ensure that users take action on each declaration as part of their weekly task list.
Intentionality is a vital factor in living a joyful life. I want users to be intentional about their daily practices and what they read, listen to, and watch. How are they starting and ending their day? On the monthly pages, there is an opportunity for users to cultivate intentionality.
Remember the old saying, “you are what you eat?” The same concept applies to growing and protecting joy in your life. Are the visuals and audibles in your world helping you contemplate and experience gratitude, peace, satisfaction, and happiness?
Lastly, I want users to celebrate their successes! Joyful people understand the importance of celebrating life every day. On the monthly pages, there is a place to record the positive highlights of the month.Â
